REGULAR MEETING
December 11, 2006

The Nemaha Valley Schools Board of Education met in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2006. A current copy of the agenda was available for inspection in the office of the Superintendent prior to the meeting.
The minutes of the November 14, 2006 regular meeting were approved as presented.
A motion was made by Hunzeker and seconded by Gerdes to approve General Fund claims in the amount of $190,485.59. Roll call vote: Bottcher-yes, Gerdes-yes, Grundman-yes, Hunzeker-yes, Kreifels-yes, Ruenholl-yes. Carried 6-0.

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Principal Gottschalk reported on the following:
A. The December and January activity calendars were distributed.
SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Superintendent Moles reported on the following:
A. The Nebraska Supreme Court case involving recreational liability was discussed. The district's insurance carrier is waiting until the Unicameral addresses the issue before deciding on how to handle this.
B. The final Board of Education election results were distributed.
C. The State has set new mileage rates. The district's rate will remain at $0.41 per mile.
D. Alan Katzberg has been named as the new Executive Director of NRCSA.
E. An orientation session will be held for Teresa Goracke on Jan. 2. Steve Ruenholl and Supt. Moles will conduct the session.
F. The status of hiring a new custodian was discussed.
G. A dinner honoring Kelly Kreifels for his service on the Board of Education was discussed.
H. The upcoming restriction on use of vans for student transportation was discussed. The type of vans used by Nemaha Valley will still be allowed in the new regulations.
FUTURE DATES
A. The NRCSA Legislative Forum will be held on January 16 in Lincoln.
B. The NASB/NASA Labor Relations Conference will be held on February 5 and 6 in Kearney.
OLD BUSINESS
NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made by Kreifels and seconded by Bottcher to approve suggested revisions to policies 5600.02 (Use of Drugs), 5600.03 (School Dress), 5600.12 (Attendance), and 5600.13 (Discontinuation of Enrollment). Carried 6-0.
A recess was declared at 8:20 p.m.
The meeting was reconvened at 8:34 p.m.
A motion was made by Bottcher and seconded by Gerdes to enter executive session to discuss personnel and legal issues. Roll call vote: Hunzeker-yes, Kreifels-yes, Ruenholl-yes, Bottcher-yes, Gerdes-yes, Grundman-yes. Carried 6-0.
Entered executive session at 8:35 p.m.
A motion was made by Grundman and seconded by Hunzeker to leave executive session. Roll call vote: Kreifels-yes, Ruenholl-yes, Bottcher-yes, Gerdes-yes, Grundman-yes, Hunzeker-yes. Carried 6-0.
Left executive session at 9:03 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:04 p.m., with the next regular meeting to be held on Monday, January 8, 2007, at 7:30 p.m., at the school.
