Sixth graders explored electrical circuits first by making
alight bulb light up with only a paper clip, flashlight
bulb, and a battery. Can you make it light? Try it! Then they
explored making a switch and a double pole switch. It was very
challenging to get all the wires connected correctly. They also
found out about a parallel and series circuit and where these are
used in our everyday life. What happens if the switch is positioned
indifferent locations in the circuit? Students were surprised when
some light bulbs lit when the switch was on!! What is an electrical
circuit breaker and why is it used? The sixth graders had a great
time blowing up balloons exploring this very important feature in
our homes to help prevent fire.
