The Nemaha Valley Schools Board of Education (BOE) met in special session as legally posted at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2007, at Tecumseh High School, for the purpose of identifying the Superintendent for the merged district. The Tecumseh Board of Education was also in attendance and held a special meeting at the same time.
Steve Ruenholl called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and stated that a copy of the Open Meetings Law was posted in the room.
The Tecumseh Board of Education passed a motion to enter executive session.
A motion was made by Gerdes and seconded by Bottcher to enter executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel. Roll call vote: Bottcher-yes, Gerdes-yes, Goracke-yes, Grundman-yes, Hunzeker-yes, Ruenholl-yes. Carried 6-0.
Entered executive session at 7:32 p.m.
A motion was made by Grundman and seconded by Hunzeker to leave executive session. Roll call vote: Gerdes-yes, Goracke-yes, Grundman-yes, Hunzeker-yes, Ruenholl-yes, Bottcher-yes. Carried 6-0.
Left executive session at 9:17 p.m.
The Tecumseh Board of Education adopted a resolution that directed its Superintendent to work together with the Nemaha Valley Superintendent in preparation for the merger.
A motion was made by Goracke and seconded by Gerdes to adopt a resolution directing Supt. Jack Moles to work in conjunction with the Superintendent of Schools of Tecumseh Public Schools, to perform tasks and assignments with regard to preparations for the ensuing 2007-08 school year for the new Tecumseh/Nemaha Valley school district. Roll call vote: Goracke-yes, Grundman-yes, Hunzeker-yes, Ruenholl-yes, Bottcher-yes, Gerdes-yes. Carried 6-0.
The two Boards of Education stated that the new Superintendent would be officially named on or after June 1, 2007.
Two committees made up of the designated Board members for the merged district will meet on Tuesday, May 8, at 7:00 p.m. in Tecumseh to discuss merger plans.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:32 p.m., with the next regularly scheduled meeting to be held on Monday, May 14, 2007, at 7:30 p.m., at the school.
